Kristina Dobyns, PhD, M.S., RSMT, NTP, HMA-certified Integrative Addiction Recovery Professional.
Dr. Kristina brings clinical, academic, and lived experience to her work in food addiction and binge eating recovery. In long-term recovery from severe volume addiction and sugar/carbohydrate/ultra-processed food addiction, she combines deep personal insight with rigorous scientific training to support sustainable metabolic and psychological healing.
Her doctoral dissertation, Body-Based Strategies for Coping with Urges to Binge Eat, has been recognized for its groundbreaking exploration of how sensory tools, nervous system regulation, and embodied practices can interrupt and rewire compulsive eating patterns.
Kristina takes an abstinence-based, body-based, metabolically informed approach. She integrates neuroscience, therapeutic carbohydrate restriction, somatic psychology, and relapse prevention science – grounded in compassion, precision, and practicality. She believes in data, discernment, and yes. . . strategic dance breaks as legitimate nervous system regulation.
A lifelong learner, a few of her recent advanced trainings include:
- Ketogenic Diets for Mental Health Clinician Training (Dr. Georgia Ede)
- Certified Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Teacher (MB-EAT)
- Mindfulness-Oriented Recovery Enhancement (Eric Garland, PhD)
- Befriending Your Body Professional Certification (Ann Saffi Biasetti, PhD)
- Embodied Recovery for Eating Disorders (Embodied Recovery Institute)
After more than two decades of gathering and field-testing tools, Kristina brings an unusually integrative lens to recovery—addressing metabolic health, circadian rhythm, embodied awareness, and daily habit architecture as inseparable components of lasting food freedom.
Dr. Kristina is currently developing a carnivore- and ketogenic-based retreat center offering holistic, abstinence-based recovery from sugar, carbohydrate, and ultra-processed food addiction. The center will integrate metabolic rehabilitation, nervous system regulation, embodiment practices, and structured recovery support.
